Lieutenant Commander JOHN McCLOY was awarded the Navy Cross in World War I for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service while in command of the U.S.S. CURLEW, engaged in the important and hazardous work in clearing the North Sea of mines.
Commander McCloy was the Legion of Valor National Commander in 1922-1923.
