James Willie Farmer, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations as an Executive Officer, Troop C., 38th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (Mechanized) on March 7 and 8 1945 near Altenahr, Germany.

Mr. Farmer joined the Legion of Valor in 1960.
