Lt. Col. WILLIAM L. MORRISON, recieved the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism in France during the Champagne-Marne and Meuse-Argonne offensives. On July 16, 1918, then a Captain with the 38th Infantry, 3rd Division, Col. Morrison entered an enemy dugout and captured a prisoner, thus securing valuable information. On October 9, 1918, he led a combat patrol into enemy lines and succeeded, under heavy fire, in putting 2 machine guns out of action, thus enabling his own company and one of another regiment to advance.
LTC. Morrison joined the Legion of Valor in 1961 and resided in California.
