For extraordinary heroism while serving as an Assistant Patrol Leader in Company H, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division in Korea on November 24, 1952. He was leading an element that approached a surrounded patrol. He crawled forward alone to render aid and carried a wounded Marine back to his own group. He then returned with a fire team and helped evacuate 11 wounded men.
