MG HUGH B. MOTT was awarded the DSC for extraordinary heroism in action against the enemy on March 7, 1945 at the Ludendorf railroad bridge across the Rhine River. Under intense fire, he cut wires along the entire length of the bridge which prevented further demolition of the bridge and enabled First Army to establish a bridgehead on the east bank of the Rhine.
MG. Mott joined the L.O.V. as a life member in 1946 and resided in Tennessee.
