On October 10, 1943, Robert Rosenthal, flew his B-17 aircraft, “Rosie’s Riveter”, home after a bombing raid on Munster, Germany with two engines shut down, severe wing damage and two wounded crew members. He was also shot down twice and escaped both times. The first time was with the help of the French resistance fighters and the second was with aid from the Russian troops.
Mr. Rosenthal resided in New York.
