ABE JAMAIL, received the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism in action on July 4, 1944, when he attacked singlehandedly a group of German machine gun nests in Northern France. Within 15 minutes, Abe killed seven of the enemy including a captain and a lieutenant and captured 23 more. With a rifle and hand grenades, he knocked out six machine guns and a large enemy ammunition supply.
Mr. Jamil had been a member of the Legion of Valor since 1953.
