Private BRUCE H. MILLS, 78th Company, 6th Regiment, United States Marine Corps is awarded the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism in action at Blanc Mont,France, October 3, 1918. When the advance of their company was held up by enfilading fire from a hostile machine-gun nest, Private Mills, with three other soldiers, volunteered and made a flank attack on the nest with bombs and rifles, killing three members of the crews and capturing 25 others, together with three machine guns.
