SERGEANT MAJOR WILLIAM M. PRESLEY, received the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism on June 6, 1944, in France. He moved through intense enemy fire to contact a Naval Shore Fire Control Party and successfully led them to a position from which they could direct their fire.
