1LT Joseph Terry

Joseph Terry, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for action on December 3, 1944 in Germany. After a hostile artillery barrage detonated a large quantity of white phosphorus and high explosive shells, he ran through the shed and successfully evacuated the men who were billeted next to the shed. Then, hearing a cry for help, he re-entered the blazing shed and groped through dense smoke to find a man unable to walk because of a severe wound. He took the soldier in his arms and carried him through the flames and falling debris to safey.

Mr. Terry joined the Legion of Valor as a LIFE MEMBER in 1945, and resided in Pennsylvania.
