By direction of the President, under the provisions of the Act of Congress, approved July 2, 1926, the Distinguished Service Cross was on July 5, 1942, awarded to Sergeant Jack D. Dunn, 69th Bombardment Squadron (M), Hickman Field, T.H., for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy during the engagement near Midway Island, June 4, 1942.
