Colonel Kenneth R. Martin U.S. Air Force was presented with the Distinguished Service Cross because of his extraordinary heroism in aerial combat over Germany on 14 September 1944. Unfortunately, the citation describing Colonel Marin’s action was destroyed during the Records Center fire at St. Louis. However, Air Force Information Officers have informed the Adjutant that the award was made in General Order No. 24, HQ Strategic Air Force, Europe, dated 17 April 1944.
