Lt. Commander ASHLEY D. ADAMS, commanded anti-submarine units in World War I. From the anti-submarine base in Plymouth, England, his sub-chasers operated against German submarines in the English Channel, the Irish Sea, and the Bay of Biscay. The Navy Cross was awarded to him for heroism displayed in action with enemy submarines in these waters. Commander Adams also served with the mine-laying and sweeping force in World War II.
Mr. Adams joined the Legion of Valor in 1961 and resided in Maine.
