FREDERICK C. WEYLAND, received his decoration for two separte actions in Vietnam. He accompanied the first helicopter into a besieged company that was surrounded, under heavy fire and without radio contact. His presence inspired and enabled the men to hold out until relief arrived. In the second incident, he landed in hostile territory, turned an errant patrol around and escorted them back to friendly lines.

GEN Weyland joined the Legion of Valor in 1973 and is a life member. He was Chief of Staff of the Army in 1974-76.
