Kenneth B. Potter United States Army: For extraordinary heroism in action on 14 April 1945, at Heroldsberg, Germany. Major Potter led his Battalion in a bold offensive operation against an enemy stronghold. After dashing through small arms fire and capturing six German riflemen, he killed an enemy infantryman with rifle fire, and then led his tanks in a pulverizing attack on hostile defenses in the woods and in the town. He captured eighteen more Germans in hand-to-hand combat and, by his agressive leadership and inspiring courage, ensured the seizure of the objective and the capture of 421 Germans and large quantities of material.

Potter died on September 15, 1995 in Springfield, VA and is buried in Arlington Cemetery. His membership in the LOV was sponsored by Jerry Martin who is associated with the Freedom Museum in Manassas, VA where Potter’s son and grandson live. Audie Murphy MOH, a Legion of Valor member, served under Potter who was instrumental in recommending Murphy for his Medal of Honor.
