CAPT Albert W(Walt) Winchell

ALBERT W. (WALT) WINCHELL was a pilot in a torpedo squadron which took part in the Battle of Midway, on June 4, 1942. He was awarded the Navy Cross for pressing home the attack in the face of relentless anti-aircraft fire. Later in the Battle of Midway, he was shot down and spent 17-1/2 days afloat in a rubber life raft.

CAPT. Winchell was a member of the Legion of Valor since 1954 and resides in Florida.
