ALLEN JOHN HUTTENBURG was awarded the Navy Cross by Admiral Nimitz on 7 April 1942, in a ceremony to honor 24 extraordinarily heroic sailors on board one of the battleships attacked at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Mr. Huttenberg was serving as junior officer of the deck, USS Nevada on that fateful day. He was wounded during the action. He became a naval aviator and in civilian life became a pilot for TWA.
