CAPT. CEDRIC J. SCHEIDLEMAN was awarded the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism as a Platoon Leader of Company C, First Battalion, Twenty-seventh Marines, Fifth Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands, 19 February 1945. When the assault wave was pinned down by intense machine gun fire, he proceeded along forward of the front lines and neutralized the hostile weapon with grenades. Although wounded, he coolly killed two Japanese who charged him with drawn bayonets.
Mr. Scheidleman first joined the L.O.V. in 1949 then became a life member in 1953. He resided in Missouri.
