CHARLES B. FLETCHER, was awarded the Navy Cross for actions during the assault on Sicily in July 1943. He swam to determine the depth over sand bars within hazardous range of hostile guns ashore. He observed several soldiers close to drowning and brought them to safety.

Mr. Fletcher was a member since 1946 and resided in Florida.
