DANIEL MICHAEL MURPHY, was awarded the Navy Cross while serving as a Platoon Sergeant in Company E, Second Battalion, Seventh Marines, First Marine Division in action in Korea on November 27-28, 1950. When his company command post was surrounded, he led a group of 12 to reach the post under heavy fire. He then reorganized the 35 men, directed fire on the enemy, and denied them the position.
Mr. Murphy had been a member since 1953.
