MAJOR FLOYD M. PAXTON, B Company, 550th Infantry Airborne Battalion received his Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism for actions on January 3-4, 1945 at Renuamont, Belgium. He directed an attack against an enemy held town and killed three snipers. The enemy launched a counterattack, and Major Paxton, without antitank weapons, directed artillery fire by radio. His forces inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy and enabled other units to withdraw and consolidate for a later attack.
Mr. Paxton joined the L.O.V. in 1965 as a life member and resided in Florida.
