MAJOR FRANK J. HAGNEY, U.S. Army retired, joined the Legion of Valor November 7, 1960. He won the Distinguished Service Cross for actions in Germany on April 1, 1945, with the 71st Infantry Division. Although seriously wounded, Second Lieutenant, Hagney disregarded his painful wounds and courageously led his platoon through intense frontal and flanking fire. Even though twice more wounded, he continued his gallant action inspiring his men forward and captured his objective against heavy odds.

Major Hagney joined the Legion of Valor in 1960.
