General George S. Patton, III was awarded his second D.S.C. on 24 September 1968, during a joint operation between the 36th Vietnam Rangers and Troop B of his 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, he was awarded a second D.S.C. He saw his troops being cut down under intense enemy automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenade fire. He had his helicopter pilot land in the middle of the embattled area and left the ship to rally his men. He personally led a charge to destroy the heavily protected enemy bunker. Failing to destroy it with grenades, he returned, with two other men, and placed TNT in the emplacement, annihilating the position.
General Patton resided in Massachusetts.
