MISS HELEN GRACE McCLELLAND received the Distinguished Service Cross following service with an American surgical team in the British Casualty Clearing Station 61 on the front lines in France. She was cited by British Field Marshall Sir Douglas Haig for ‘gallant and distinguished service in the field; for aid to the wounded and dying during bombing of the camp. She also received the British Royal Red Cross First Class for meritorious service as recommended by Dame McCarthy, matron-in-cheif of British Forces.
Ms. McClelland was a LIFE MEMBER of the Legion of Valor and resided in Ohio.
