GEN James A Van Fleet

GENERAL JAMES A. VAN FLEET. His Second Oak Leaf Cluster was awarded for action in January 1945 in military operations in Luxembourg. During a scheduled advance, he visited all elements participating in the attack, fearlessly exposing himself to heavy enemy artillery, mortar, and rocket fire and inspired the men. In 1948, General Van Fleet took command of the military advisor groups in Greece and defeated guerilla forces and communism. General Van Fellt commanded the Eigth Army in Korea and lead his troops in a series of offensives against the Koreans and the Chinese. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetary.
