First Sergeant LEONARD G. LOMELL, received the Distinguished Service Cross for his exploits on D-Day, 6 June 1944, when as a First Sergeant of Rangers, led a patrol which destroyed five German 155mm guns complete with ammunition supply. Earlier in the day he had knocked out a German machine gun position.
First Sergeant Lomell was the Legion of Valor National Commander 1964-1965, and resides in New Jersey.
