PVT Louis Yeager

Louis Yeager, formerly a Private with Co D, 321st M.G. Bn., 82nd Division, World War 1, was awarded the D.S.C., for extraordinary heroism in action against the enemy near Pont-a-Mousson, France , September 12, 1918. His brother Roy was also awarded the D.S.C., during the same action. Louis Yeager, with his brother Roy, remained at an advanced postion in the face of heavy machine-gun and rifle fire from the enemy, and by effective use of their machine gun and pistols, covered the withdrawal of the infantry, inflicting serious losses on the enemy and refusing to retire until ordered to do so.

Louis saw action in the Toul Sector, St. Miheiel offensive, Argonne Forest and the Bell Air Farm Raid. He was seriously gassed on September 19, 1918.

Mr. Yeager joined the Legion of Valor in 1944 and resided in Texas.
