CAPTAIN MICHAEL C. FRANCISCO was awarded the Air Force Cross for his actions on 6 April 1972, when he was instrumental in the destruction of three surface-to-air missile sites. Flying an F-4, he found the first site and marked it for destruction. While doing this, he discovered a second site, which he also marked. As he was leaving the area, his navigator saw a missile launched from a third site. After evading that missile, he identified the location of the third site to the attack flight for them to destroy.
