Robert C Hargrove

Robert C HargroveROBERT C. HARGROVE, First Lieutenant, Infantry, United States Army. For extraordinary heroism in action against the enemy on 6 June 1944, in France. In the initial assault upon the coast of France, Lieutenant Hargrove landed with his platoon in the face of heavy enemy rifle, machine gun and artillery fire. This intense fire pinned the men down on a narrow beachhead, inflicting numerous casualties with resultant disorganization. First Lieutenant Hargrove, with complete disregard for his own safety, exposed himself on numerous occasions to this direct fire in reorganizing and preparing his platoon for an attack. He then led his platoon in a successful assault upon the enemy position. The personal bravery and superior leadership exhibited by First Lieutenant Hargrove reflects great credit on himself and was in keeping with the highest traditions of the Armed Forces.

Mr. Hargrove resides in Louisiana.
