Robert Lawrence ClancyRobert Lawrence Clancy, United States Naval Reserve: for extraordinary heroism as Pilot of a Bomber Plane in Bombing Squadron EIGHTEEN, Attached to the U.S.S. INTREPID, in action against enemy Japanese forces during the Second Battle of the Philippine Sea on October 26, 1944. Braving intense antiaircraft fire and adverse weather conditions, Lieutenant ( then Lieutenant, Junior Grade) Clancy pressed home a vigorous attack to score a hit on an enemy battleship with his full bomb load, thereby contributing materially to teh annihilation of a hostile carrier Task Force. By his outstanding airmanship and courageous fighting spirit, he aided in removing a serious threat to our ground forces and his unwavering devotion to duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Mr. Clancy joined the Legion of Valor in 2004.
