ROGER G. WHEAR was awarded the Navy Cross for actions in Korea on August 20, 1952 as a Corpsman with a Marine Infantry Company. Although seriously wounded in the chest and arms and suffering from a broken leg, he crawled across a mined area to aid two Marines. Unable to save the life of the patrol leader, he bandaged wounds and stopped arterial bleeding which saved the life of the other wounded Marine.
