LTC Theodore H Chenoweth

2LT. Theodore H. Chenoweth was awarded the Navy Cross based on his heroic actions in 1953. 2LT. Chenoweth was a Marine Corps Platoon Commander fighting in Korea. During an attack against an entrenched enemy force, he was seriously wounded by an intense barrage of enemy mortar and artillery fire. He refused treatment while directing the evacuation of his stricken comrades. Then, after assuming control of an adjacent platoon when its leader was critically wounded, he resumed his place at the head of the assaulting force and singlehandedly charged the enemy position. His men, inspired by his remarkable display of courage, followed him and successfully routed the enemy in bitter hand-to-hand fighting. Once victory was theirs, he consolidated the newly won area, directed the evacuation of the wounded, and then allowed the medic to treat him.

LTC Chenoweth is a life member.
