PVT William B Lyerly

WILLIAM B. LYERLY, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism while a Private in Company D, 120th Infantry, 30th Division. On 29 September 1918, near Bellicourt, France, he, with 8 other soldiers, comprising the company headquarters detachment, assisted his company commander in cleaning out enemy dugouts along a canal and capturing 242 prisoners.

Mr. Lyerly joined the Legion of Valor in 1961 and resided in New York.
