MAJ WILLIAM L. PRYOR was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross while a Prisoner of War for extraordinary heroism on July 10, 1944, near La C Barville, France. He elected to remain with his weapons platoon and cover the withdrawal of his company. He alone stood his ground.

Mr. Pryor had been a member of the Legion of Valor since 1946.
