WILLIS MOSER CAMPBELL, while serving near Brieulles-sur-Meuse, France, 29 September 1918, Sgt. Campbell brought great credit to himself, his unit and the U.S. Army while serving with Company B, 59th Infantry, 4th Division, exhibited extraordinary heroism and courage by making his way forward, in the face of annihilating fire, to the aid of a wounded comrade who was lying exposed to this great hazard. Sgt. Campbell reached the soldier and carried him across an open field to safety, without regard for his own personal safety.

Mr. Campbell resided in Pennsylvania, and had been a member of the Legion of Valor since 1981.
